For dogs who like their walks muddy, their humans well equipped and their accessories rather lovely.
The Tweed & Tether Teal Slip Lead is the sort of wonderfully simple bit of kit that earns a permanent place in your coat pocket. Handmade from soft, premium 8mm rope and finished with beautiful solid brass hardware, it's lightweight, easy to handle and ready for whatever the walk throws at you.
The adjustable anti-choke design means you can control how the lead sits around your dog's neck, while the smooth leather stopper gives you a simple way to adjust the opening. No fiddling with clips when you're heading through a gate, crossing a road or suddenly discovering that your dog has spotted something very interesting in the hedge.
It's particularly handy for countryside and working dogs who don't wear a collar, but we think it's equally useful as a grab-and-go lead for everyday adventures.
And that teal? Well, Bob approves.

How we use slip leads with our dogs
Some dogs are off-lead most of their life - especially if they live in the countryside. So a slip lead is perfect for those moment when you need to wrangle them back to the car.
With Bob and Dolly we find a slip lead very useful to keep in the car. We use it when they need quick toilet breaks, but we don't want to full suit and boot up with harness and lead.
They are great for the beach, when you get back to the car wet and sandy, strip off your harness and get dry. Then slip on your lead and head to the pub!
What are slip leads perfect for?
- Quick, easy lead-ups — no collar clip to find; simply slip the lead over your dog's head and you're ready to go.
- Dogs that don't routinely wear a collar — particularly working, gundog and countryside dogs.
- Training and controlled walking — they're commonly used by experienced handlers because they provide a direct connection between handler and dog.
- Going through gates and stiles — really handy when you need to get a dog safely on lead quickly.
- Dogs who are good at escaping collars — when correctly fitted, a slip lead is much harder for a dog to back out of than a loose collar.
- Keeping in your pocket or car — they're lightweight and make an excellent emergency or spare lead.
- Dog-friendly places where leads need to go on quickly — pubs, cafés, events, car parks and anywhere you suddenly need to put your dog on lead.
-
Country walks — especially when moving between off-lead areas and roads, livestock or other dogs.
