We hate jargon! What is 'high loft insulation??' - simply put, high loft insulation in a coat refers to thick, fluffy material with deep air pockets that trap body heat. "Loft" means fluffiness. High loft materials use lightweight fibres or down clusters to maximise warmth without adding excessive weight.

The Powder Hound Vest is packed with 180g recycled polyester insulation, helping trap warmth close to your dog's body when temperatures drop.

The waterproof outer shell is rated to 10,000mm, with a PFAS-free PU finish and taped seams to help keep rain and snow where it belongs: Outside the coat.

It's also windproof, so those freezing gusts don't get a free pass underneath.

More than just a back warmer

One of the things we love about the Powder Hound Vest is the coverage.

The vest extends over your dog's hips and thighs, giving them more protection than a traditional dog coat that stops around the middle of their back.

There's also an insulated storm collar, helping keep that chilly winter air away from the neck.

Finding the right size

The Powder Hound Vest is sized by your dog's chest girth, measured around the widest part of their rib cage.

The current sizing runs from XXS through XL, covering approximately 33–107cm chest girth. If your dog falls between sizes, Ruffwear recommends sizing up for a more relaxed fit, but we'd love for you to check with us before ordering.

It is VERY important that you measure your dog when buying clothing as all brands size differently. Ruffwear tends to size large, so don't assume you know your dog's size based on other brands you may have purchased.
